Asian Media Industries research network
What we do:
We bring together scholars, practitioners, and students interested in Asian media industries to share ideas, build connections, and collaborate through events, workshops, and research initiatives.
Our Story
The Asian Media Industries Research Network was established to create a platform for dialogue and collaboration among scholars studying media industries and media labour across Asia. While Asia is home to some of the world’s most dynamic media ecosystems – from film and television industries to rapidly expanding digital and platform economies – research on these industries has often been fragmented across national, linguistic, and disciplinary boundaries.
The network was founded to bring these conversations together, fostering inter-Asian perspectives and comparative approaches that deepen understanding of media work in the region while contributing to broader debates about creative labour and the global media economy. Jointly initiated by King’s College London and Nanyang Technological University, the network seeks to build a sustained research community through symposia, workshops, and collaborative research initiatives.
